A hard-hitting 29er trail bike. Why should small wheels have all the fun?

Brand new to the Escarpe range for 2013 is the Escarpe 29, a big-wheeled version of our great-value full-suss trail bikes. Sharing the same custom hydroformed 6061 aluminium frame as its Escarpe siblings the Escarpe 29 offers 140mm of front travel matched with 120mm of rear bounce via our Vitus V-Link four-bar suspension system.

At Vitus we say it’s up to you to decide if a 29er is right for your size and your riding style, but many riders claim a smoother, faster ride – especially over uneven surfaces – and a better fit in larger bike sizes.

120mm travel V-Link frame and RockShox Sektor RL forks
Our lightweight hydroformed multi-butted, heat treated 6061-T6 aluminium frame features 120mm of rear wheel travel via a four-bar V-Link activated suspension platform which eliminates pedal bob yet remains fully active at all times. Suspension travel is controlled by a RockShox Monarch RT air shock which offers infinite adjustability and silky smooth performance. All pivots run on sealed cartridge bearings providing supple performance with low maintenance. A replaceable derailleur hanger comes as standard.

A RockShox Sektor RL fork offers 140mm of buttery smooth, infinitely adjustable travel with a tapered steerer and 15mm Maxle Lite thru-axle for precise, positive tracking through corners and rock gardens or any other obstacle the trail throws at you.

SRAM groupset
The SRAM groupset combines X7 shifters and front derailleur with an X9 Type 2 rear derailleur and a SRAM S1400 2×10 chainset delivering slick and precise gear changes in all conditions and a gear ratio that will make short work of any gradient the trail can throw at you.

Stopping power is provided by Avid Elixir 3 hydraulic disc brakes with a 180mm rotor up front and a 170mm rotor at the rear to ensure positive, controllable braking.

Easton EA70 wheelset and finishing kit
A lightweight Easton EA70 XC wheelset reduces rotational weight for faster acceleration and improved climbing prowess. With a 15mm thru-axle front hub and 142mm x 12mm thru-axle rear you can be sure that stiffness and rigidity are uncompromised. Proven Maxxis Ardent tyres combine predictable handling with low rolling resistance for complete confidence in all conditions. To complete the package we’ve added an Easton EA50 stem and seatpost to compliment the wheelset with Vitus bars, grips and saddle providing the finishing touches.
