Top of the range. Pick of the litter. Leader of the pack. La crème de la crème.You can call it what you want. We’ve called it the Optimum III
With our flagship cross-country race machine we’ve chosen only the very best components available today to grace a frame that carries on the Vitus heritage of innovation in design. The Optimum III is an elite-level bike for elite-level cross-country racers, built with one purpose in mind – to get you on top of the winner’s podium.
At the heart of a stunning bike is a custom-moulded high-modulus carbon fibre frame with 3K weave finish, with race-bred geometry engineered for the maximum blend of comfort, stiffness and responsiveness.
To match this frame we’ve assembled a selection of components that reads like a pro racer’s wish list, drawn largely from the latest-generation SRAM XX family which represents nothing short of a revolution in drivetrain technology and integration of elements.
Suspension duties are taken care of by the imperious Rockshox SID XX World Cup Dual Air fork – 100mm of smooth, controlled travel in a superlight and laterally stiff package, boasting features such as a hollow carbon crown, integrated carbon steerer and the brand new Xloc remote hydraulic lockout with titanium hardware.
A full complement of SRAM XX also makes up the drivetrain. The Optimum III is among the first production bikes to use SRAM’s groundbreaking 20-speed ‘2X10’ platform for lighter weight, better spread of gears and more positive shifting than the traditional 3×9 format.
Of course with the XX group you also get a host of extra features that slash weight and boost performance – carbon fibre Truvativ XX GXP cranks; 39x26t double chainset with SRAM’s new Xglide shifting technology; matchmaker-compatible carbon fibre shifters and the forged aluminium/magnesium XX rear mech with smooth-running ceramic bearing jockey wheels.
Avid XX hydraulic disc brakes feature forged magnesium caliper bodies and master cylinders, carbon fibre brake levers and stainless steel slotted rotors mounted on lightweight aluminium spiders.
The package is completed with Truvative Stylo World Cup seatpost, a lightweight Laser Disc wheelset, WTB Wolverine race tyres and WTB Silverado saddle.
The Optimum III brings together the finest in carbon fibre frame technology and the very latest generation of integrated SRAM XX componentry.
It’s a bike that yearns to be first past the finish line. Do you?
