A satisfyingly stiff and solid ride

Cycling Plus magazine have published their First Ride report of the Vitus Dark Plasma VR carbon road bike, and praised the VR for its taut handling, lightweight, smooth-rolling wheels and good quality ControlTech components.

Built using high-modulus 12k carbon, the VR frame comes complete with a full carbon fork with carbon steerer. The review commended the frame and fork combo, saying: “The rear end, with its chunky seatstays, oversized chainstays and wishbone, is satisfyingly stiff and solid, and combined with the Vitus’s oversized bottom bracket area makes for a pleasingly efficient ride.”

“The full carbon fork helps to keep the handling pleasantly light too.”

Shimano’s 105 20-speed groupset provides crisp, reliable shifting with a wider gear ratio and a compact double 105 chainset is used for an optimum climbing range.

The review highlighted the Pro-Lite Merano wheelset too, adding: “These handbuilt wheels are stiff under power, roll smoothly, stayed true during the test and complement the Dark Plasma’s looks. They’re a fairly lightweight pair too, which contributes to the bike’s decent climbing abilities.”
