The inaugural HotChillee Cape Rouleur based out of Franschhoek, South Africa, took place between 4th and 8th March, with HotChillee’s ride captains all enjoying the three stage, 525km sportive aboard their Vitus Sean Kelly LTD Edition bikes.

Taking advantage of the most scenic areas in the Western Cape, riders enjoyed rolling road closures, motorbike outriders, Hertz support vehicles and Cycle Lab mechanics; the winning HotChillee event formula.
This first test event had limited entries, but attracted a number of high-calibre riders, allowing enthusiasts to rub shoulders with cycling professionals and legends. Cycling legend Stephen Roche, the voice of cycling Phil Liggett, four times Cape Epic winner Karl Platt, two times German XCM champion and up and coming South African mountain biker Max Knox and Joel Stransky, ex-South African Rugby International and World Cup winner, all took part.
Sven Thiele, founder of HotChillee said: “We are delighted at how well the first Cape Rouleur test event went and how well it integrated with the Western Cape as a region. This really is some of the best cycling in the world, with incredible scenery amidst some pretty tough conditions and big stages. Having cycling legends such as Karl Platt and Stephen Roche join us was a real honour and the camaraderie and fun had by all was incredible.”
We’ve put together this image gallery from the event, which we hope you’ll enjoy:
