The Etape du Tour is an annual road cycling event which gives amateur riders the chance to take on a stage of the Tour de France on closed roads with professional support. This year’s Etape du Tour takes place on Sunday 19th July, following the route of Stage 19 of the Tour – and we’ve kitted out two of the team from Chain Reaction Cycles – Matt Cole and Dillon Osborne with Vitus Bikes to take on this mammoth challenge. We’re still wondering why they agreed…
Taking on a stage of The Tour de France is no walk in the park and whilst Matt and Dillon have been training hard over the past few months – the above stage profile map shows you just how much of a challenge this will be for the guys. We’re delighted to assist Matt and Dillon with this challenge and have supplied them with our Vitesse Evo VRI and Zenium SL bikes.
Matt is pretty tall but thanks to our 62cm Vitesse Evo he’s been able to get a bike that fits him perfectly. Dillon has been riding an alloy bike for a few seasons now and prefers the ride qualities that an alloy frame has to offer. For 2015 Vitus launched a new SL “Superlight” version of our award winning Zenium model. At just 1200gms for the frame it rivals many entry level carbon bikes and with a full Shimano 105 groupset and Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels it’s an ideal bike for long hours in the saddle.
We’ll be following Matt and Dillon over the following weeks in the run up to the Etape du Tour. You can check out their blog which they’ll be updating by clicking the photo below or heading across to the Chain Reaction Cycles HUB
