Three is the magic number for Vitus Bikes’ Colin Ross

Co. Down rider makes it another winning weekend for Vitus as he secures the 2013 Irish National Title.

Colin Ross (Vitus Factory Team) has continued his winning ways this autumn as he takes his third win in as many weekends. Taking 2nd two weeks ago in Cullo earned Colin the overall win at the Irish DH Mountain Bike Series. Never one to let up he then went on to outwit “The Fox” GT Racing Pro, Gee Atherton to cross the line first out of 400 competitors at the 2013 RedBull Foxhunt which took place at Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails last weekend.

Colin is delighted with the end of his season

“It feels amazing to win the Nationals, it’s always a big goal for me each year and this season was no different. I first won the elite nationals ten years ago and it took me another five years to win it again in 2008, and then another 5 years until now.

I haven’t been out of the top three for the past four years so I was thinking my time was up to ever winning it again as I’m not getting any younger!”

Colin has been part of the Vitus Bikes research and development team this season, working on the brands all-mountain enduro and downhill platforms. His win on Sunday onboard a prototype Vitus 650b at the Irish National Champs signals a landmark win for the 27.5” platform in competitive DH.

“The last three weeks have been amazing with three big wins including the RedBull Foxhunt. I’ve had to move between three different bikes and race on totally different tracks – which isn’t easy. Coming into the Nationals I gained a lot of confidence and despite only getting the new Vitus DH prototype the week before the event I quickly started to get on with it and felt really comfortable .. and also fast!

Congratulations also go to Vitus Bikes Ian McIntyre who picked up the win in the Veteran category at this year’s Irish National Champs .. despite racing with a broken wrist!
