One of the quickest men to ever grace Irish (and indeed British) roads in recent years has been An Post – Chain Reaction’s Ryan Mullen. Despite still only being 20 years of age, Mullen has produced some impressive times over the last few seasons – winning last year’s U23 National Time Trial Championships gold ( ed. despite posting the fastest time at the championships Cycling Ireland rules prevented him from taking the elite title as well ), 8th place at the recent Baku European Games and the third fastest time on UK soil for a 10 mile TT in 2014.

After a long trip home from Baku last week Ryan Mullen outclassed the competition last night when he stormed to victory on the 37km course just outside Omagh in County Fermanagh. With an average speed of 46.47kph / 28.87mph he saw off Eddie Dunbar (NFTO Pro Cycling), who won silver, and Martyn Irvine of Madison-Genesis who took bronze.

But having finished 3rd in the An Post Rás last month where he also won the U23 classification and taken what was perhaps a career best results of 8th at the European Games in Baku against World Tour opposition, Ryan Mullen has shown strong development on the road and against the TT clock this season.
