Montgomery outclasses field in Swords

Chain Reaction Cycles / Vitus Bikes rider David “Monty” Montgomery is the new Elite Men’s Irish National Cyclocross Champion!

Starting from the back of the grid and falling (quite literally) fowl of a mass pile up shortly after the start, Monty was a deserved winner of the National Championship showdown in Swords Co. Dublin. The CRC/Vitus rider had an impressive start chipping into a 20sec deficit to chase down Glen Kinning (Kinning Cycles) and Tim O’Regan (DID Dunboyne) within the first lap. Kinning and Montgomery stayed neck and neck through the middle of the race before the Loughborough University student showed his class – attacking in the closing laps to drop a failing Kinning. Crossing the line over 2 minutes in the lead the crowd witnessed a true lesson in how to ride Cyclocross as Montgomery produced a ride the quality of which was way beyond his years.
