Matti competes in BikePure CX Race

Matti Adair continues his off-season racing by taking part in the most recent Irish Cyclocross race.  Here’s a few lines on the event from Matti

"Bike pure was hosting cyclocross races to fill in the gaps in the cyclocross calender Irish.  They were held it the grounds of Belurgan Park in Dundalk. The days leading up to the race i was felling sick and on race day I wasn’t much better but decided to race any way it was a 10 lap race of a testing circuit.  I got a good start and lead into the first corner which was a tight switchback style corner and a mid bunch position would have left me well back in the positions.

From the start myself and Robin Seymour got a good start and had distanced ourselves from the rest of the field. For the next 4 laps we sat wheel to wheel and I tried to get a gap but with a 14 time cyclocross National Champion on my wheel it was never going to be easy. On lap 5 Robin attacked and got a gap and I tried to close the gap but could not.

The gap continued to grow and by lap 9 of 10 the gap was 1 minute 20 seconds but after a disastrous last lap were I blew up the gap endedup at 2 minutes, which considering Robin’s reputation I was happy enough with my result.

So with the next goal the National Cyclocross Champs which is only a few weeks away this results is a good sign of my form. After the cross champs its a trip to Holland for some track racing at Apeldorn velodrome the weekend after so its a busy few weeks for me."

Good luck to Matti in the Irish CX Champs from all at CRC
