CRC / Vitus Bikes Pro Lucy Gossage set for Ironman South Africa

Cambridge based Pro and newly dubbed “Dr” heads to Nelson Mandela Bay

 

CRC’s sponsored Ironman competitor Lucy Gossage will take on the 10th edition of Ironman South Africa this Saturday (6th April) and alongside fellow Brit Jodie Swallow the prospects of a British win are most certainly real!

This is the first major race for Gossage in 2014 and having achieved an IM double in 2013, winning both Ironman UK and Ironman Wales and she’s hoping for a win. Having recently completed training camps in Lanzarote, Mallorca and Fuerteventura and finally getting her PHD completed teh “Duracell Bunny” will sure to be hard to beat!

“I’ve had a really good few months training since Christmas and feel I’ve made the most of my significantly reduced working hours! The first race is always a bit of an unknown. I never put too much expectation on myself in terms of where I finish against the other girls. Having said that i know I’m fit so hope I can put together the race I feel I’m capable of and see where that puts me against the big names!”

The bubbling Brit is chasing points to line up at her first professional race at Kona later this year and will take on Ironman Lanzarote and Ironman Wales in a bid for qualification points.
