An Post – Chain Reaction’s Sam Bennett goes Pro Continental

Congratulations to the VITUS Pro rider as he signs for NetApp-Endura for 2014

Following three seasons with the An Post – Chain Reaction Team, Sam Bennett has announced that he has secured a two year contract with German based Pro Continental team NetApp-Endura.

The Carrick-on-Suir born rider has shown amazing talent particularly towards the end of this season where he won the hardest stage of the Tour of Britain onboard his Vitus Vitesse also clocking up two second place finishes behind none other than Milan San Remo winner Gerald Cholek and the ‘Manx Missile’, Mark Cavendish.

Bennett has done well to secure a Pro Continental contract given that many riders are still on the transfer market with the collapse of many teams in 2013.
Celebrating a new contract and indeed his birthday Sam said he’s delighted to be making the move into the Pro-Conti ranks. Commenting in an interview to Velonation this morning, the young Irish rider says he’s fired up for the 2014 season:

“I went over after the Worlds to meet NetApp-Endura in Berlin. They seemed really enthusiastic. They said that their leadout train is good but they were looking for another sprinter that could fill that position in some races,” he said.
“It was just a general meeting but it was really good. I was really impressed with the team. Even watching them in races all year, I was impressed by them and how professional they are. I am really happy to be going to them.”
“I am really excited, I can’t wait to start working with the team, the hard work starts now.”
Team NetApp-Endura had a highly successful season following last year's merger between the German NetApp and the British Endura teams. In particular, the team rode really well in the Vuelta a Espana where Leopold König won a mountain stage and finished ninth overall.
Welcoming Sam to the squad Team NetApp Endura Manager Ralph Denk commented:
“Sam is among the best up-and-coming sprinters in Europe. He proved that in impressive style at the Tour of Britain. He will be a valuable addition to our squad of young sprinters."
Vitus would like to wish Sam a great season in 2014 with NetApp Endura. We’re sure he will continue to be one to watch!
Chapeau.
