An Post – Chain Reaction rider Jack Wilson at the La Côte Picarde U23 Nations Cup

Strong finish by An Post – Chain Reaction rider Jack Wilson…

Jack Wilson was one of only two Irish finishers in yesterday’s La Côte Picarde U23 Nations Cup race in France.

The 172 kilometre course featured many Cols what is proving to be a trying week for the young Irish riders on the national team.

With some bad luck for his teammates Conor Dunne, who took ill and Eoin McCarthy and Ryan Mullen who both crashed Wilson managed to hang into the end placing 72nd at the end of the day. The An Post-Chain Reaction crossed the line in a six-man group four minutes back on the talented Caleb Ewan of Australia, who won the race in a sprint.

Ireland head coach Brian Nugent will announce his ZLM Tour team on Friday morning. Points scored in the Nations Cup count towards qualifying U23 riders for the World Road Race Championships in Florence in September and it’s hoped that AnPost – Chain Reaction’s Jack Wilson will be well in the mix.
